Soil fauna development during heathland restoration from arable land: Role of soil modification and material transplant

چکیده
Heathlands are threatened habitats throughout the whole Europe, which have initiated numerous restoration programmes aimed mostly at plant community reconstruction; however, little is known about soil fauna restoration. Here we studied newly established wet and dry heathlands in Netherlands after topsoil removal of previously agricultural land, where manipulated pH (acidification by Sulphur or liming Ca ions as Dolokal) introduced material to speed up process. We sampled experimental plots nearby mature (used local reference habitat) over five years (2013–2017) for nematodes, mesofauna (mainly springtails mites) macrofauna. Although inoculation proved be a substantive step target development also helped shift faunal assemblages towards target, latter were still far from heathland years. Only macrofaunal densities showed similar 2017 spots. The succession dynamics all groups trophic composition macrofauna nematodes differed heathlands. Soil amendments improved initial colonisation well sites, probably created suitable microhabitats development.

Development of soil microbial communities during tallgrass prairie restoration
Soilmicrobial communitieswere examined in a chronosequence of fourdifferent land-use treatments at the Konza Prairie Biological Station, Kansas. The time series comprised a conventionally tilled cropland (CTC) developed on former prairie soils, two restored grasslands thatwere initiated on former agricultural soils in 1998 (RG98) and 1978 (RG78), and an annually burned native tallgrass prairie ...

متن کاملIsolation of antibacterial material-producing bacteria from saline soil
Saline soils are widely spread in Iran. These intact soils are a great source for the isolation of new bacteria with highly functional metabolites in biotechnology. Actinomycete strains were isolated on starch casein agar and ISP2 with different concentrations of sodium chloride (0, 5 and 10%) from treated soil samples. Pure colonies were cultured on a casein glycerol medium. After complete gro...
